Meet Tarra

Pianist · Vocalist · Educator

This was me at my first piano recital in Seattle — age six, feet barely reaching the pedals, but already completely captivated. That early spark became the foundation for a lifelong pursuit of artistry, learning, and self expression— one that continues to shape every moment I spend at the piano today.

Over the years, my relationship with music has deepened from curiosity into craft, from study into life artistry. What began as childhood wonder evolved into a disciplined excellence, a creative outlet, and ultimately, a calling to guide others in discovering their own musical voice.

Teaching Philosophy

I bring decades of training rooted in classical tradition, enriched by contemporary styles, into every lesson. Students often describe my teaching as focused yet warm — rooted in play, clarity, and a genuine belief in each musician’s ability to grow.

I believe that piano study is far more than mastering notes — it’s about cultivating artistry, creativity, confidence, and a lifelong connection to music. Whether you’re beginning your journey, returning after a hiatus, or refining advanced skills, my goal is to create a space where you can explore, express, and grow.

The study of piano engages both sides of the mind—the intuitive and the analytical, the expressive and the structured. I view the connection between music, ritual, and emotional well-being as a kind of medicine, approaching piano education as an interdisciplinary art where creativity and cognition work in harmony to cultivate not only technical mastery but also personal balance, curiosity, and expressive freedom.

Each lesson is thoughtfully designed to refine pianistic skill while nurturing focus, confidence, and emotional depth. In this way, piano study becomes both a discipline and a source of nourishment—a lifelong practice of artistry and well-being.
