Welcome to Con Brio Membership
A guide to the studio's membership model, policies, and what to expect as you begin your musical journey.
Con Brio is a membership-based piano studio designed to support long-term musical growth through thoughtfully structured instruction, meaningful learning opportunities, and a vibrant studio community.
We encourage you to review these guidelines carefully before attending your upcoming meet & greet.
-
Con Brio Piano Studio operates through three annual seasons of study: Fall Term, Spring Term, and Summer Atelier. Together, these seasons create a year-round framework that balances structured instruction, artistic development, performance experiences, reflection, and individualized growth.
Fall Term — Structured Musicianship with GHMTA
Spring Term — Expressive Artistry with WSMTA
Summer Atelier — Reflective Integration with Specialized Coursework & Guest Artists
While instructional formats, performance opportunities, and seasonal areas of focus adapt throughout the year, all phases function together as part of Con Brio’s cumulative musical well-being framework.
Membership is ongoing and reserves the student’s place within the studio, maintains access to instructional resources and planning materials, and supports ongoing artistic advisement and individualized musical development.
-
Lesson times are reserved on a continuous basis and remain consistent throughout the years.
Scheduled breaks—including Peninsula School District breaks, federal holidays, an Independence Day holiday week, and an end-of-summer recess—are woven into the Studio's educational calendar and seasonal learning framework.
Our studio calendar offers a clear, at-a-glance reference for the entire year, helping families plan lessons, breaks, and summer schedules with ease.
-
Pause Pass is Con Brio Piano Studio’s retaining fee and allows families to temporarily step away from regular lessons while preserving their student’s enrollment, reserved lesson placement, and active studio membership.
Pause Pass is billed at:
85% of regular monthly tuition
During a Pause Pass period:
the student’s reserved place within the studio schedule is maintained
re-enrollment and additional membership fees are avoided upon return
ongoing curriculum continuity and membership standing are preserved
Because Summer Atelier functions as a required part of Con Brio’s year-round seasonal learning structure, the months of July and August are ineligible for Pause Pass for some select lesson types.
See term overview pages for additional details.
-
Con Brio Piano Studio operates through a year-round developmental model built around evolving seasonal learning rhythms. While the instructional format may shift throughout the year, artistic development and curriculum continuity remain ongoing across all seasons of enrollment.
Fall Term
Structured Musicianship
The Fall Semester emphasizes foundational fluency, listening awareness, technical continuity, independent preparation habits, Music Olympics preparation, and holiday repertoire development. Students focus on strengthening confidence, consistency, discipline, and long-term musicianship skills through weekly implementation and performance preparation.
Spring Term
Expressive Artistry
The Spring Semester emphasizes musical expression, interpretive artistry, performance maturity, adjudication preparation, memorization, scholarship opportunities, and concert performance experiences. Students continue refining artistry, confidence, technical sensitivity, and polished performance habits through Con Brio’s annual artistry and enrichment season.
Summer Atelier
Reflective Integration
Summer Atelier serves as the studio’s annual season of reflection, planning, artistic advisement, specialized coursework, and implementation preparation. Summer learning unfolds through asynchronous instruction, parent training, individualized development, one-on-one coaching, and long-term curriculum planning designed to maintain continuity while providing flexibility throughout the summer months.
-
Class placements, lesson times, and instructional planning are reserved specifically for each student.
Because our schedule is carefully structured for each member, makeups and refunds for missed lessons are not available. If you anticipate an absence, you must provide at least 48 hours’ notice so we can maintain smooth studio operations and ensure consistency for all students.
-
Meaningful progress occurs between lessons. Students are expected to engage regularly with assignments, repertoire, and practice resources provided through the Studio's Online Piano Portal. Practice expectations vary by age, level, and program, but consistent engagement between lessons remains an essential component of artistic growth.

Students are expected to arrive prepared, on time, and ready to participate fully in lessons. Respect toward instructors, peers, and the Studio space is required. Disruptive behavior, chronic tardiness, or disregard for Studio policies may result in termination of membership.
-
On rare occasions, lessons may be canceled due to the instructor's illness or professional obligations. These instances are already accounted for in the Studio’s tuition structure; therefore, no refunds or credits are issued.
If the Studio invites guest artists or specialist instructors, Students may occasionally have the opportunity to learn from them. Any such instructional substitutions will be communicated in advance.
-
As Con Brio continues to grow and refine its programs, policies may occasionally be updated to better support students, families, and studio operations. Continued enrollment signifies acceptance of the current policies as published within the Member Portal.
-
Enrollment at Con Brio Piano Studio is ongoing and remains active until a formal notice of withdrawal is submitted.
To discontinue enrollment, written notice must be provided at least two months prior to your intended final month of participation.
For example, if June will be your final month, notice must be received no later than April 1.
Because lesson times, class placements, staffing, and seasonal planning are arranged well in advance, notices received with less than two months' notice will result in continued tuition through the remainder of the required notice period.
-
If you choose to discontinue your membership, rejoining is always welcome. Lesson times are subject to availability, and the standard Enrollment Fee will be applied.
Please reach out to membership@conbriopianostudio.com if needed.
