The Music Artistry Program (MAP) of WSMTA is an annual event developed for students to encourage the pursuit of fine arts in music and maintain virtuosic musicianship standards. Keep scrolling to read more about this amazing program and listen to Con Brio Piano Studio’s honor’s recital finalist!

FOR THE STUDENT

The Music Artistry Program allows students to set goals that encourage preparation beyond the normal weekly routine.

Perform for a highly-respected visiting artist.

Work one-on-one with the visiting artist to improve your performance.

Receive written and oral comments, along with a certificate for your hard work.

For the PARENT

The Music Artistry Program serves as a goal for your child to prepare two memorized pieces

A non-competitive format encourages learning, rather than comparison with others.

Visiting artists are experienced teachers with advanced training, have been carefully screened by WSMTA, are nationally certified by MTNA and many serve on college faculties around the Northwest.

For the TEACHER

Teachers can observe their students’ lessons from a third-person perspective, often seeing new ways to approach difficult situations or unique problems.

The teacher can share ideas and questions with a supportive colleague during one-on-one time with the visiting artist after they have heard students.

Discover trends and areas which may need improvement.

Mazurka
— Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Album for the Young

"Mazurka" is a lively and rhythmic dance piece from Tchaikovsky's album for the young. It features a memorable melody that is passed between the right and left hands and requires precise rhythm and articulation to bring out the character of the dance.

Ilyannie's hard work and dedication to this piece paid off in a stunning performance filled with energy and precision. With careful attention to detail and musical phrasing, Ilyannie brought out the piece's character and captured the essence of the dance.

Congratulations to Ilyannie on a job well done!
