Online Lesson Time Checklist & Etiquette

  1. Make sure that the piano space at your home can facilitate a quiet, respectful, and creative learning experience.

  2. If your instrument is in a heavily used space (living room, or media room, etc.), then, please plan to coordinate our virtual lesson time with the rest of your household so that our time is undisturbed and quiet. The piano room and lesson time should be free from television or radio music/noise.

  3. Prior to our first virtual lesson, you will need to find a spot to set up your device so that the camera shows the piano keys, and your hands/body/posture Do this BEFORE our lesson.

  4. Lesson device should not be a cell phone/smartphone, but a device with a large enough screen for you to comfortably see demonstrated instruction from me.

  5. A good internet connection is critical to receiving a smooth lesson. Consider your home connection quality, and/or where your internet router is in proximity to where your piano is. If there are connection issues, and they seem to persist past the first month of classes, then you may be asked to resolve by supplying an upgraded signal or rearranging accordingly.

  6. Have a notebook and pencil ready so that I can have you write down important points or annotate your music.

  7. So that I have copies of your material from week to week, you will need to scan and send your scores of music and assignments every week, 1 day prior to our scheduled class.
