GENERAL MEMBER POLICIES

  1. There is a two student/one hour minimum required for in-home lessons

  2. Payment is a flat monthly rate and is not adjusted for months with more, or less than 4 lessons.

  3. If there is a week I am absent, then a makeup class will be scheduled. If one cannot be issued due to a conflict in both party's schedules, then a tuition credit will be posted to your account.

  4. Payments for lessons are due by the 1st lesson day of every month. Payments are received via Electronic Banking through QuickBooks. Partial payments will not be accepted and will result in discontinued lessons until the balance is paid in full. Please note that a $25 late fee is automatically charged for payments received after the 1st lesson day.

  5. BREAK SCHEDULE: We adhere to the peninsula school district break system for Mid-Winter Break & Spring Break. There is a 1-week Thanksgiving Break and a 2-week Christmas break.

  6. Rescheduling for makeup lessons is not offered. No refunds are given should a student be unable to make their weekly scheduled class. Lessons missed due only to unforeseen circumstances (illness or emergencies) may potentially be rescheduled if there is another cancellation within the same week.

  7. Learning to play an instrument is a long-term commitment. Consistency is the key to progress. Students who pause their subscription may be placed on a waiting list, or their spot may be held by paying 80% of tuition during time off, or during an extended time away from home.

  8. PAUSING/DISCONTINUING: Please speak with me if you/your child is showing decreased interest. A change in approach, different music, books, and activities usually help. Acting early is best, and taking a break is usually counterproductive.

  9. Lessons may be discontinued as needed at any time and for any reason by parents/adult students/teacher. Students must provide a 1-month notice for termination and no refunds are given for terminations with less than 1-month notice.

  10. All students registering in this Studio hereby grant permission for photos/videos of themselves to be used indefinitely by the Studio for purposes related only to the Studio and will make no monetary or other claims for such use.

In-Home Lesson Time Checklist & Etiquette

  1. Make sure that the piano space at your home can facilitate a quiet, respectful, and creative learning experience.

  2. If your instrument is in a heavily used space (living room, or media room, etc.), then, please plan to coordinate our virtual lesson time with the rest of your household so that our time is undisturbed and quiet. The piano room and lesson time should be free from television or radio music/noise.

  3. Please make sure to disinfect your piano keys prior to my arrival.

  4. Have a notebook and pencil ready so that I can have you write down important points or annotate your music.

  5. Please have a chair seated next to your piano, along with a small table surface of some kind (e.g. small desk, foldable tray table), if possible, for me to station myself at during your in-home lesson.

  6. For the health of everyone, students who are sick are asked to notify me (this includes fever, stomach ailments, contagious cough/cold, etc).
